Communication & Team Dynamics
At the heart of my work is the integration of the DISC behavioural framework — a powerful tool for building self-awareness, improving communication and strengthening leadership and team effectiveness. Originally developed by psychologist William Moulton Marston, DISC is a widely used behavioural framework that explores how people tend to think, communicate and act in different situations. It focuses on four core behavioural tendencies: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness.
DISC does not measure ability or intelligence, and there are no “good” or “bad” profiles. Every person demonstrates all four tendencies to some degree, the balance and expression of each varies from individual to individual. DISC is not about labelling people or judging personality. It is a practical, non-clinical tool that builds self-awareness and helps individuals better understand their natural leadership style, communication patterns, decision-making preferences and behavioural responses under pressure.
Dominance (D): Direct, action-oriented and focused on results. Tends to be decisive, confident and comfortable taking charge, particularly in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.
Influence (I): Engaging, energetic and people-focused. Tends to communicate openly, build relationships easily and bring enthusiasm and motivation to groups.
Steadiness (S): Supportive, reliable and collaborative. Tends to value harmony, consistency and strong relationships, and brings a calm, stabilising presence to teams.
Conscientiousness (C): Analytical, thoughtful and detail-oriented. Tends to value accuracy, structure and evidence, and brings careful judgement and critical thinking to decision-making.
In leadership and organisational settings, DISC is commonly used to support more effective communication, stronger working relationships, improved conflict management and higher-performing teams and build on self-awareness. It provides a shared language for understanding differences and adapting behaviour to work more constructively with others. DISC enables professionals to:
- Understand their natural leadership and communication style.
- Recognise how different styles show up in meetings, debates and decision-making.
- Identify behavioural patterns under pressure.
- Adapt their approach to lead more effectively across differences.
